Baker and Snyder Appointed to New College of Florida Board of Trustees
Dec 13, 2011– Bradford B. Baker of Venice, FL, and Steven L. Snyder of Sarasota, FL, have been appointed to the Board of Trustees of New College of Florida, the state’s honors college for the liberal arts and sciences. Announced by Florida Governor Rick Scott, both are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Bradford Baker has had a long association with New College and served most recently as chair of the New College Foundation Board of Trustees. He has been the director of Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc. since 2008 and president of Nexus Biometrics Inc. since 2004. He has also been president of Bramar Housing Inc. since 1996. Baker was executive director of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation from 1999 to 2000. He is a past board member of the Manatee Community College Foundation, as well as the Nova Southeastern University Foundation. Baker received an associate’s degree from State College of Florida (formerly Manatee Community College) and a bachelor’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. He succeeds Vicki Raeburn and is appointed for a term beginning November 17, 2011, and ending January 6, 2016.
Born in Miami Beach, Steven Snyder is a native Floridian. He has been the developer and chief executive officer of RSP-USA Inc., a Sarasota real estate marketing business, since 1997. He earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from Indiana University in Fort Wayne and his M.B.A. in Marketing/Finance from Indiana University at Bloomington. Highly skilled in marketing and computer programming, he was a senior manager for R.J. Reynolds from 1977 to 1992, working in their marketing and marketing research departments. He succeeds Walter Presha for a term beginning November 17, 2011 and ending January 6, 2016.
Baker and Snyder join a board whose members currently include Robert M. Johnson, Elaine M. Keating, Rick Coe (chair of the faculty), Audrey R. Coleman, William R. Johnston, Keith D. Monda, Oliver Peckham (student government co-president), J. Robert Peterson, Mary Ruiz, John W. Saputo and Felice Schulaner.
