Associate Professor of Biology Elzie McCord featured guest on ABC7’s Black Almanac
Associate Professor of Biology Elzie McCord was one of the featured guests on ABC7’s Black Almanac (Comcast, BrightHouse and Verizon cable channel 7) Sunday, August 31st at 7:30 a.m.
The show discussed prostate cancer with a focus on African-American men and also included Dr. Michael Dattoli of Dattoli Cancer Center & Brachytherapy Research Institute, and Mr. Henry Blyden of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
A prostate cancer survivor, Dr. McCord stressed the importance, especially for black men who are at higher risk, to get regular prostate screenings. Dr. McCord was a contributing writer to the book Prostate Cancer: Stories of Strength & Hope, a book published by the Datolli Cancer Foundation.
A free prostate cancer screening will be held on September 27, 2008 at the Dattoli Cancer Center, Tuttle and Fruitville Roads, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
