Virtual Heart Walk a success

On Saturday morning, New College students, staff and faculty joined together to make a difference in the community during the virtual American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk.

The Suncoast Heart Walk Digital Experience gave participants the flexibility to participate wherever and however they wished. People walked, danced, ran and rode bikes.

They used the activity tracker in the Heart Walk app and posted their results on Facebook, tagging the American Heart Association of Florida and using the #NCFHeartWalk and #SuncoastHW hashtags.

The student teams were the NCSA Footsloggers, the Russian Team and the Circadian Rhythmic Team. Staff teams included NovoFIT, TEAM CWC, Saucey Squad and the Foundation Team.

New College ranked in first place for the number of participants joining a team and seventh in fundraising efforts, and won several event awards.

Any voluntary donations from the campus community went to support the AHA. The ultimate goal of the free event was to raise awareness about heart health.
