(March 8, 2010)  New College of Florida history professor Carrie Beneš and English professor Nova Myhill were the featured guests on WGCU radio Wednesday, March 10.  The two discussed the New College Conference on Medieval & Renaissance Studies, held at the Sudakoff Center from March 11-13.  Beneš and Myhill are the coordinators for the conference, which has grown to be one of the largest of its kind in the southeastern United States. WGCU radio airs on FM 90.1 in Southwest Florida and is available online at WGCU.org.

This year marks the 17th biennial edition of the New College Conference on Medieval & Renaissance Studies, which was founded by New College history professor Lee Snyder in 1976 as a way to bring together leading scholars in the field. More than 150 U.S. and European medieval and Renaissance scholars are expected to attend this year’s event, which features keynote speakers Caroline Bruzelius of Duke University and Lori Anne Ferrell of Claremont Graduate University.

New College of Florida faculty, staff and students are invited to attend any of the sessions at this year’s conference free of charge. All sessions also are open to members of the local community for a flat $10 fee.
