April 19, 2011 – Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Julie Morris has been given a three-year appointment to the U.S. Commerce Department’s Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee. The committee, known as MAFAC, advises the Secretary of Commerce on living resource matters, ensuring that living marine resource policies meet the needs of commercial and recreational fisherman, and those of environmental, tribal, academic, consumer and other national interests. MAFAC meets twice a year in various coastal locations. Morris’ term will begin in May 2011. The next meeting is May 24-26, in Key West.
