On Saturday, February 15, admitted students and their families gathered on campus for the second Experience New College open house event of the school year. President Don O’Shea welcomed students with advice to study something they liked, something  they were good at, and something that could earn them a living. “When you have the first two,” said O’Shea, “often the third will come on its own.”
After the welcome, students and families had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with faculty members from various AOCs at the Academic Fair. The Writing Resource Center table drew a large crowd, but computer science and marine biology were also popular.
Mini-classes were offered in a variety of subjects, including “Sustainable Cities” with Professor David Brain and “From Salsa to Reguetón: Popular Music of the Caribbean” with Professor Hugo Viera-Vargas.
Experience New College hosts a variety of prospective students – from people getting a first look to admitted students making their final decisions – which is why guests have a spread of options for information sessions like Admissions information given in both English and Spanish, a student panel, and a presentation from the Center for Career Engagement & Opportunity.
The next Admissions event on campus will be Admitted Student Day on Saturday, April 18.
