New College Foundation has received a $23,000 gift from the Sarasota Mindfulness Institute (SMI) for the development of mindfulness practices on its campus and in the Sarasota-Manatee community. The gift was a result of the SMI’s decision to close the organization during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cultivating his legal prowess was a skill Michael Reese ’88 learned at New College of Florida, and the experience has served him for decades as a successful lawyer. So, in early September, Reese decided to pay it forward, donating $50,000 to his alma mater’s Law Society.

New College of Florida’s Community-Driven Internship Program is sponsoring a select number of nonprofit organizations and government agencies in Sarasota and Manatee counties to hire interns this spring. The deadline to submit internship project proposals is September 30.
