All patrons must present current ID to borrow or renew circulating materials.
For current and emeritus NCF and USF SM faculty, all Cook Library books check out for the academic year.
For current NCF and USF SM students, all Cook Library books check out for one semester.
For all other patrons, the check-out period for Cook Library books is 3 weeks.
For all patrons, media items check out for 7 days.
HOW TO RENEW: Renewals may be requested in person or electronically via Cook Library Catalog for material from Jane Bancroft Cook Library. Materials already requested by another patron may not be renewed.
HOW TO RETURN MATERIALS:
- Books should be returned in the BOOK DROP at the Circulation Desk. Also, for your convenience, there is a Book Drop outside the back door of the library, available 24 hours a day.
- Media items must be returned to directly to the Circulation Desk, not to another location.
- Interlibrary Loan books must be handed to a staff member at the Circulation Desk.
FINES: The fine for overdue library books and media items is 25 cents per day per item, beginning the day following the due date. The fine will increase by 25 cents per item for each day to a maximum of $10.00 per item. The fine for overdue reserve items is 25 cents per hour per item, beginning the hour following the time due. The fine for overdue reserve items will increase by 25 cents per item for each hour to a maximum of $10.00 per item. Overdue items should be returned to the Circulation Desk. The fine should be paid at the Business Office. Book replacement charges will be billed through the Department of Finance & Accounting and must be paid at the Cashier’s office.
LOST & DAMAGED MATERIALS: The patron will be billed $100.00 or the cost to replace the lost or irreparably damaged material if greater than $100, plus a $5.00 administration fee, and the amount of the overdue fine, if any. The $100 replacement fee includes the cost to process the replacement material. The library does not accept replacement items in lieu of payment of fees. Should the item be found, a credit will be issued for the price of the item and processing fee. The fine is not refundable. If an item is not reported lost, the fine will accumulate at 25 cents per day until the maximum fine of $10.00 is reached. The book will then be declared lost and the patron billed for the price of the book and the $10.00 overdue fine.
PATRON PRIVACY: To protect the privacy of library patrons, names of individuals or details concerning the materials they may have checked out is privileged information and not available to the public.
