The Office of Information at New College offers technical support for a wide variety of services at New College.

Information Technology Services

The Office of Information Technology at New College is made up of a small group of professionals that are organized into three units: Administrative Computing, Network System Services and User Support Services.

Each unit performs a variety of duties; to maximize department resources, there is a great deal of overlap between units. Unit duties range from basic functions, such as installing applications and configuring computers, to complex functions, such as designing information databases and computer networks. This includes data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems.

Administrative Computing

The Administrative Computing unit supports, maintains and enhances the applications of the College.

Functions include:

  • Other Banner/Oracle applications
  • Data integration services
  • Argos report development
  • Application development

Network System Services

The Network system services unit maintains and enhances the College network, voice, storage, and server services of the College.

Functions include:

  • Authentication services
  • Database services
  • Application services
  • Enterprise storage and backup
  • Network connectivity (wired and wireless)
  • Network controls
  • Telecommunications
  • Technology infrastructure

User Support Services

The User Support services unit provides end-user support and solves technology problems for the College.

Functions include:

  • Equipment services
  • New Employee Orientation services
  • Computer lab support
  • Technology inventory
  • Installation services
  • Support services
  • Technology research

Consulting services

Consulting services provided by the Office of Information Technology include:

  • Recommendations of hardware purchases
  • Training (Banner brown bag and technology orientation)
  • Liaison with USF data center for ERP system and disaster recovery
  • Policy and Procedure development
  • Support of the Campus Police Department
  • New construction/building renovations
  • The Office of Information Technology provides data interfaces, management and authentication where needed to the following Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud Services and Hosted Applications:
    • SLATE (Admission management and recruiting)
    • myNCF portal authentication
    • Ellucian Banner
    • HR position posting system
    • Canvas (LMS)
    • Help Desk system (School Dude)
    • Emergency SMS text and phone system (Blackboard)
    • E-Mail (Google Gmail)
