Spring 2021 Orientation schedule

Monday January 25th

Move-In; 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – HCL 5
Receive your welcome basket and Spring Orientation paper schedule. If you are living on campus you will receive your room key and sign your Room Condition Report. If you need to move-in past noon, you will need to call the RA on Duty (you will find the number in your move-in email).

Tuesday January 26th

Welcome and Getting to Know Each Other; 9:00 am – 10:00 am – Outdoors – F2F
The Student Success Coaches and Orientation Staff want to give you a warm welcome to campus and learn a little bit about you, so as to best serve you. We’ll be outdoors and socially distanced, masked are required per campus policy.

Connecting with Campus Resources; 10:00 am – 12:45 pm – Various Locations – F2F
We’ll take a walking tour of the campus together, stopping in at various campus offices which will be useful resources for you during your time at New College. Each office will spend some time talking with you about the services they offer and getting to know each of you. We’ll talk to Student Activities and Campus Engagement, Student Disability Services, the Writing Resource Center, Library, and CWC.

Box Lunch Pickup; 12:45 pm – 1:15 pm – HCL 8

Break; 1:15 pm – 2:30 pm
This is a great time to pick up your student ID from Palmer D as you’ll need it for dinner if you are eating on campus!

Academic Overview with the Academic Coaches; 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Zoom
Coaches will cover the basics of NCF’s academic program, and what you need to know to get off on the right foot!

Center for Career Engagement & Opportunity; 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm – Zoom

Wednesday January 27th

(optional, highly encouraged) Cyber Cafe with the Coaches; 10 am – 11 am – Zoom
Join our coaches for a morning cup of coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate found in your welcome bag) and ask them any questions you have about being a student at New College, this is your chance to hear from a peer.

(only on campus students) Living on Campus; 11 am – noon – Zoom
Our Residence Life staff is excited to sit down with you over snacks and discuss some of the benefits of living on campus as well as briefly go over some do’s and dont’s of campus life and get you set up with a laundry card.

Break; 12 pm – 1:00 pm
Take a break to rest your eyes and get some lunch!

Academic Q&A with Provost; 1 pm – 2:00 pm – Zoom
After you’ve processed all of the information from the day before, you may have some questions about the academic program and New College in general. Provost Suzanne Sherman and the coaches will join us for lunch to answer any questions that have come up.

Individual Consultations with the Registrar and Financial Aid; 2 pm – 4:00 pm – Zoom
During this time each student will be assigned time slots to have an individual consultation with both the Registrar and Financial Aid. This gives you a chance to ask specific questions about your particular situation.

Faculty Advisor Meetings; 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Zoom or F2F (depending on professor and student preference)
You’ll get to meet your new faculty advisor and ask any questions before you start mini-classes the next day.
