New Scholars

The spring event celebrates the work of our thesis students.

New Scholars

New Scholars is an annual spring celebration of student research and thesis work.

This event celebrates the philosophy that student work should be viewed beyond the classroom walls, not only to their peers but to the Sarasota and Bradenton communities at-large. It is the embodiment of New College of Florida’s mission, which offers an education rich in hands-on research, student-faculty collaboration and independent study.

The 2017 New Scholars program featured many exciting options including:

  • Several panel presentations from students on topics such as: the student-led, on-campus academic, peer-reviewed journal Aeolus, members of the on-campus Toastmaster’s Club, an organization focused on public speaking and communication skills, and students conducting botanical research at Selby Gardens;
  • Art installations in the main lobby from New College’s talented art students. Costume displays from the year’s performances in the Black Box Theater;
  • More than 50 unique, individual academic research presentations on various topics including STEM fields, humanities, and the social sciences.
