Why Give?

When you give to New College, you are helping to create change in the world. With the guidance of their faculty advisors, our students learn how to think critically and solve problems, skills they will use to affect real change and repair our world.

Our alumnae/i are today’s leaders

Despite an alumni base of fewer than 5,000 students, New College graduates include a Rhodes Scholar, a Fields Medal winner and two Gates Cambridge Scholarship recipients, three of the highest prizes in academe. Over the last five years alone, New College has produced more than 30 Fulbright scholars, ranking the College among the nation’s Top 10 liberal arts colleges in terms of per-capita Fulbright production.

Proving that a new college education can take you anywhere, our graduates work for some of the most prominent companies and organizations in the world. Distinguished alumni include William Dudley, president and CEO of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Carol Flint, Emmy-award winning television writer, and NASA scientist and meteorologist Thomas Bell. Other alumni work for the French government, Motorola, National Public Radio, The Peace Corps, The Wall Street Journal, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Upjohn and the U.S. Forest Service. Novo Collegians are concert pianists, college professors, White House news correspondents and inventors.

Nearly two-thirds of New College graduates have gone on to graduate school, and within the sciences nearly one-third of our graduates hold either a MD or PhD. Eighty percent of our alumni go on to graduate school within six years of graduation.

Our faculty shapes the lives of young scholars

At New College, our professors not only excel at research but at teaching as well. Each of our more than 70 full-time faculty acts as an academic advisor and mentor for students in his or her area. And unlike many smaller colleges and universities, 97 percent of New College faculty members hold doctorate or the highest degree they can receive in their fields. All professors are evaluated on their teaching, research and service to both the New College community as well as the Sarasota-Bradenton community.
