Because this is a small school, I have the chance to really get to know my students. It’s a really great experience, and a lot of fun for me.

Community Outreach

A thriving college is one that is integrally involved in the community it calls home.  At New College, we believe that community service not only develops caring active and aware citizens, but contributes in a myriad of ways to the neighboring communities and environments.  We are committed to providing opportunities for our students to make that contribution, and welcome in equal measure the diverse efforts that the students themselves initiate and coordinate.  New College is proud to be an active partner in a broad spectrum of community outreach and access programs.

Here is a look at some of the more than 100 different community and volunteer organizations that New College students participate in each year:

  • Mayor's Feed-the-Hungry Program
  • Sarasota Adopt-a-Family Program
  • Anarchy Deathsticks Charity Knitting Club
  • Campus Ministry Summer Volunteer Interns
  • Aiding Migrant Workers in Immokalee
  • Mathematics on the Cutting EDGE
  • Duke TIP Scholars Weekends
  • Preparing YMCA Achievers for College
  • PUSH/SUCCESS Program
  • Tutoring at the Boys & Girls Club in Newtown
