Bio: Born in the Northeast but raised in the Southeast! I’m an Environmental/Urban Studies AOC who is interested in urban sustainability, particularly as it relates to transportation and equity issues. Other than academics, I am a part of the NCSA (New College Student Alliance) as the VP of Green Affairs! I also enjoy taking classes at the fitness center or napping in the community hammocks.
Why I Chose New College: I’m honestly sometimes not sure quite how I ended up here; I came here when I was a junior in high school, and as soon as I stepped foot on campus I knew it was the right choice for me.
Favorite Things about New College: Being able to bike and walk around campus and run into at least one person that I a) study with, b) dance with at the walls, c) have had a heated discussion with, d) have shared a laugh with or e) (and this is the best) all of the above!
Bio: Living most of my life in Central Florida, I love being so close to the beach. I am interested in the intersection of politics and gender in Literature, and will be basing my thesis on Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. I work as a Resident Advisor on the residential side of campus, as well as being the President of College Democrats, Co-President of CKI, and Secretary of VOX.
Why I Chose New College: I enjoyed the challenge created within the classroom, as well as the close relationship students had to professors.
Favorite Things About New College: The close relationships you make with your friends, the ability to define my studies on my own terms, and the fluidity of your social life both on and off campus.
Bio: I was born and raised in New Jersey and moved down to Sarasota for undergrad. I am particularly interested in social psychology as well the differences between psychological treatments found throughout the world. Aside from academics, I am also the co-president of the New College Student Fellows, work as a student fundraiser, and I am also a tele-counselor in admissions.
Why I Chose New College: I mostly chose New College because of its strong academic reputation. I also like the close relationships formed with professors, the ways in which the school trains us to be independent, and how it challenges our ways of thinking.
Favorite Things about New College: I really enjoy the relationships I have formed with people here. I also love all of the amazing opportunities that have been made available to me here at New College.
