I would tell new students to bring their quirks, they'll be well appreciated. I live off campus, but I'm here a lot, because this is where a lot of fun stuff is happening. All the parties happen in Palm Court, which is right in the center of campus. Also the bay is a great place to watch the sunset and go sailing. And canoeing. The Four Winds Café is a really important central gathering place on campus. It's so casual. You don't have to buy anything. You can just go there and hang out with your friends inside or under the trees outside.
Sarasota News & Book, a coffee shop downtown, is one of my favorite places. Also, anywhere there's water – the beach, the bay. My favorite beach is a place we call Tree beach. It's kind of a secret beach off the beaten track.
