Jose Diaz-Balart 's  Story

 

Exiled from Cuba during the reign of Fidel Castro, a horde of hopeful families fled to democracy in the United States. It was 1959, and Jose Diaz-Balart’s parents made their new home in the town of Fort Lauderdale, where their son was born a year later.  He would grow up to be one of the most renowned Spanish-English TV anchormen in the state and the country. In December, 2006, Diaz-Balart received the "National Orchid Award" for best news anchor in the United States.  

Diaz-Balart, who graduated from New College of Florida in 1983, is co-anchor of the “Cada día” morning program for Telemundo, NBC’s Spanish-English news network.  Diaz-Balart is also the network’s National Director of Public Affairs, as well as the Anchor and Managing Editor of “Enfoque,” Telemundo’s public affairs program. He has served as host of various news programs for Telemundo, including the morning shows, “Hoy en el Mundo” and “Esta Mañana.” He also hosted “América en Vivo” and “Hoy en América” for Telemundo Internacional.


Born to Cuban immigrants, Jose Diaz-Balart would grow up to be one of the most renowned Spanish-English TV anchormen in the country.
