2015 Commencement at New College of Florida

New College salutes the class of 2015!

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish
Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish is a Palestinian physician and founder of the Daughters For Life Foundation. Dr. Abuelaish was the first Palestinian granted privileges to work in an Israeli hospital and was known for treating patients from both Gaza and Israel. When three of his daughters were killed by Israeli shelling in 2009, he responded by writing I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor’s Journey. A year later, he created the Daughters for Life Foundation to provide women of the Middle East with opportunities to earn college degrees, and to help those women create a better world when they return home. Dr. Abuelaish has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
