Campus Police Department
Chief of Police Michael Kessie - I was born in Chicago, Illinois and began my poilce career in 1979 at a police department in Northwest Indiana where I retired as Deputy Chief of Operations after 22 years of service. After moving to Florida with my wife in 2002, I worked 2 years for the Manatee County Seriff's Office and then joined the Campus Police. I hold a degree from Indiana University and have attended Command Officer Development School at Southern Police Institute.
Lieutenant John Tully - I am a native of Albany County in upstate New York and retired in 2002 from the Colonie Police Department as a Detective Sergeant after 25 years of service. During that time, I supervised officers in both the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division. After moving to Florida, I worked as a Private Investigator for four years. I attended St. Petersburg College where I obtained a degree in Criminal Justice. I am married with four children and live with my wife and two sons.
Sergeant Ken Vickers - I was with the NYPD for 22 years and retired as a Lieutenant. I have been with the Campus Police since 1996 and hold a BS in Criminal Justice. I am married with two children and have two grandchildren.
Sergeant Christopher Rivett - I am a native of Massachusetts where I graduated from Mount Wachusett College earning an AS in Criminal Justice and a BS in Criminal Law from Salem State College. I served a tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps, worked in the Juvenile Justice System in Massachusetts and later relocated to Florida. I served as a State Trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, a Deputy Sheriff and Detective with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. I have since been with New College Police since 2010. I am happy to be part of this organization and community and look forward to being fortunate enough to be able to help lead this agency toward the future. I am married, have a daughter and enjoy spending my time off with my family. My hobbies include baseball, hockey, golf, physical fitness and home improvement.
Officer Wesley Walker - I have been a lifelong resident of this area except during my service in the U.S. Army. I started in law enforcement with the Bradenton Police Department in 1984. During my six years with that agency I served as a Patrol Officer, Tactical Team Member, and Narcotics Detective. I came to the Campus Police Department as a Patrolman in 1990.
Officer Mike Mahaney - I have been a Police Officer with the Campus Police Department since August 2003. I am married with one daughter.
Officer Peter Spees - I worked at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office before coming to the Campus Police Department. I have been here for over 9 years.
Officer Caswell Coley, Jr. - I was born on the sunny island nation of Jamaica and thus the natural tropical climate of Florida attracted me to the Southwest Florida area. I worked as a Police Officer for the City of Punta Gorda Police department for five years before joining the New College of Florida Police Department. I enjoy fishing as well as spending time with my son. I do enjoy meeting people, so please feel free to say hello.
Officer Jennifer Coley – I am a native of Connecticut where I graduated from Manchester Community College earning an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. I relocated to Florida in 2007. I enjoy the sunshine and the beach, as well as spending time with my family. I am very happy to be a part of the New College of Florida Police Department.
Officer Kelley Fisher – I am a native of Western New York, born and raised in Fredonia. I moved to Florida in 2008 to pursue a career in Law Enforcement and graduated from the Police Academy in Fort Myers. I enjoy all sports and especially enjoy rooting for my favorites the Bills, Sabres, and Yankees. I come from a family of Law Enforcement Officers and am happy to be with the New College of Florida Police Department.
Officer Adam DeSantis – I was born Erie, PA. and relocated to Bradenton FL in 2002. I served in the US Army for 6 years as an MP and as Air Defense Artillery Avenger Crewmember. During my time off I enjoy playing and watching sports, spending time with my family and my dog, and riding my motorcycle. I am very outgoing and have a great sense of humor. I am a people person and love communicating with others. When you see me, please feel free to stop and talk. I have always wanted to be in Law Enforcement so the opportunity to work for the New College of Florida Police Department and with the NCF/USF Sarasota-Manatee Community is an honor and I am very proud to serve.
Officer Thea Schoepfer – I am a Florida native, born in Miami. I have more than a decade of service in law enforcement, serving as a dispatcher, road patrol deputy and narcotics detective. I previously worked in telecommunications in the Atlanta area. As a child I was an elite-level competitive gymnast. I am married to a law enforcement officer and have a daughter and two grandchildren. I am looking forward to a long and fulfilling career at New College.
Officer Carl Severs - I am a native of new Jersey where I graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Exercise Science. I owned and operated a business for ten years prior to relocating to Florida in 2013. Once in Florida, I pursued my career in law enforcement, graduating from the Hillsborough Community College Law Enforcement Academy. I was a member of the Bradenton Police Department before coming to New College. I am excited to work with the students and serve on this campus.
Senior Police Communications Operator Denise Cooper - I moved to Florida from Oregon in 2006 where I was employed by the American Red Cross. I have been working as a Police Communications Operator with the Campus Police since August 2007.
Police Communications Operator John Rice - I have been with the Campus Police Department for 8 years as a Police Communications Operator. I have lived in Sarasota for 18 years and moved here from New Jersey, where I lived for 41 years. I have a wife of 34 years, two sons, and one daughter. I am also the proud grandpa of a four granddaughters.
Police Communications Operator David Doweiko - I retired from the University of Rhode Island Police Department in 2006 after 29 years of service. I moved to Florida and began working with the New College of Florida Police Department as a Police Communications Officer. I hold a BS in Law Enforcement and another BS in Liberal Arts.
Police Communications Operator Nathan Wilson - I was born in Kentucky but have spent most of my life in Sarasota. I am married and have three Jack Russell dogs which are all resuces. I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Hobbies include trying to make my house energy independent.

Administrative Assistant Janet Goodard – I was born in the North, but have lived most of my life in Florida. I began working for New College of Florida in 2005 and transferred to the Campus Police Department in 2013.
