Grant Writing Resources

(or Writing the Winning Grant)

The following page provides links to sites that have been thoroughly reviewed for not only current information, but information that is not superfluous (I always wanted to use that word in context). Grant writing is a labor of love, but it shouldn't be a formidable task (another word I wanted to use).  Enjoy the "straight talk" on this site.

Institutional Information Page

We are here to assist you with completing your application in the sense of making sure it is "technically" correct.  As a researcher in your specialized field, we have no way of knowing if your proposal is meritorious.  It will be necessary for you to notify your division chair that you are submitting a proposal.  As an office, we will assist you in completing your budget figures, institutional information (some applications want you to provide a one paragraph institutional "blurb"), and other information, as appropriate, that may not have anything specifically to do with your proposal.

Budget Template

Now even easier, this form allows you to select BANNER Account codes as you develop your budget so that when you are awarded the grant, the Request to Establish a New Grant FOAPAL form is already done!  Just print the worksheet, sign and send to ORPS.  If you have questions about the template, please call the ORPS.

Allowable v. Disallowable Costs

While the State of Florida may have additional restrictions on what you can or cannot purchase, this document provides the first line of what is allowed and not allowed in terms of costs.  This will help in understanding what you can and should charge for when writing up a budget in your proposal.  Or, if you already have a grant that did not require a detailed budget submission, what you can charge to a grant and why.
