The faculty feel that
our students do outstanding work and that they should celebrate
their accomplishments by sharing their work with the community.
Students who have done creative or scholarly projects are invited to
submit proposals for poster or oral presentations. Projects can be
nearly completed or works in progress. This forum will provide
students and faculty an opportunity to engage the broader community
in academic discourse. We hope that interdisciplinary participation
will underscore connectedness in research and creative activities.
Abstracts will be published in Symposium Proceedings. If you are
interested, please fill out the form (see links below) and return it to
Dr. Sandra Gilchrist
via email by Friday, October 27, 2006. The
keynote speaker will be Mr. Mike Burton of Environmental Affairs
Consultants and a New College Alum.

I'm just doing a Poster Presentation. How long and
when do I need to be there?
You should expect to arrive between 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday,
November 3,
2006 to set up your poster. No one will be permitted to set up during the keynote
presentation on Saturday. We are
planning to have you with your posters on Friday afternoon from 5:00-7:00 so that
interested people can come by to ask questions about your work. Please plan to
be there for the session.
-
How long do I have for my oral presentation?
Presentations should be no longer than 10 minutes in length with 5 more minutes
for questions and answers. After 15 minutes, the next presenter will need to
set up so the 15 minutes is firm. If you are using PowerPoint, please have the
material on a CD, DVD or thumb drive. If you are planning to use slides, you
need to see Dr. Gilchrist for a slide tray before the presentations.
-
Can I do more than one presentation?
You may have multiple poster presentations, if you wish, but oral presentations
will be limited to one per student.
-
I don't want to present this year, but would like to help
with the Symposium. Who should I contact?
You may contact Dr. Gilchrist or Ms. Jeanne Ware.
