2015 New Student Orientation

Residential students will be able to move-in on Saturday, Aug. 15, between 9 a.m. and noon.

New Student Orientation (Aug. 15-23): This weeklong program welcomes new students with peer mentors, campus resources, academic information sessions and faculty advisors. Students learn how to negotiate contracts (register for classes), navigate mini-classes and join in a variety of social events to get connected on campus. More details will be posted soon. The deadline for registration has been extended until July 31.

Parent & Guardian Orientation (Aug. 16): One-day program offers a variety of sessions with key staff, faculty and student leaders to address family questions about the college's expectations for students, campus life and academic success.

Summer Book Choice:
New College has a tradition of providing a common summer book for all of the incoming students. This is a brief moment to cut through the clutter and focus on what the whole transition is about -- college, ideas, and expanding your world and your perspective. This summer's selection is To the Mountaintop: My Journey Through the Civil Rights Movement, (2012) by Charlayne Hunter-Gault, a compelling personal history, looking back on the author's own involvement in the civil rights movement.
