New Music New College: NOW Ensemble, September 26
On September 26, New Music New College welcomes The NOW Ensemble. The group is one of the most important contemporary music groups to emerge in recent years. These are musicians who grew up listening to rock, classical and experimental music, and who find it perfectly natural to blend myriad influences into exciting and cohesive compositions. The performance will take place at the Mildred Sainer Pavilion and begins at 8:00 pm.
Tickets are free for New College faculty, students and staff, but reservations are highly encouraged. Visit newmusicnewcollege.org for details and a complete season schedule.
This innovative series is a treasure for contemporary arts enthusiasts and features outstanding musicians from the Gulf Coast and around the country. In 2009-2010, we celebrate the 11th season of New Music New College. The five-concert series includes a number of pre-concert lectures and free public workshops. Under the direction of Professor Stephen Miles, NMNC provides educational opportunities for New College students while bringing leading local and national recording artists to the Sarasota area for performances hosted on campus. Each year, the audiences grow and the critics offer praise for what has become one of the most cutting-edge, bold experiments to be found on any college campus. In a community known for its cultural richness, New Music New College stands out in its willingness to explore new frontiers of audience-performer collaboration.
