NEW COLLEGE OF FLORIDA, SARASOTA, FL  

 

Director of Residential Life and Food Service (July 2001-present; Acting Director, July 2000-May 2001) 

This position manages all aspects of residential life at a small, innovative, and highly selective liberal arts college.  Supervise a staff of four student affairs professionals and seventeen resident assistants.  Functional areas of responsibility include budgeting, facilities management, student development programming, emergency response, and strategic planning.  This position is accountable for housing and food service auxiliary accounts, which generate over $1.5 MM in revenue annually.

 

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology, Division of Social Sciences (December 1999-May 2000; January 2002-) 

Undergraduate courses taught: Abnormal Psychology, Group Tutorial in Psychological Assessment, Laboratory in Environmental Psychology, Group Tutorial in Crisis intervention.

 

Licensed Psychologist (from Psychological Resident), Counseling and Wellness Center (January 1998-July 2000) 

Conducted outpatient psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and crisis intervention with college students in a multidisciplinary agency.  Provided therapeutic services for staff through the campus employee assistance program.  Served as primary staff member responsible for wellness outreach and programming for residential students.  Personally presented outreach programming on stress management, muscle relaxation/self-hypnosis, personal decisions and drinking behavior, coping with angry or distressed students.  Provided on-call and in-office crisis intervention services as a member of the student affairs staff.  Served RA staff as a consultant for mental health concerns of residential students; collaborated with other student affairs staff to provide annual RA training; provided supervision to RA staff in the absence of their primary supervisor.

 

Admissions Intern (August 1990-May 1991)

Conducted interviews, evaluated application files, and hosted prospective students on overnight visits to residence halls.  First student invited to become a voting member of the Admissions Committee.

Consulting Psychologist (August 2001-present)

Provide PRN psychological assessments of acute patients pursuant to Baker Act regulations, including evaluation for involuntary examination, evaluation for involuntary placement at a state mental health facility, and evaluation for release from involuntary examination.  Teach Baker Act policies and procedures to Sarasota Police Department personnel.  Clinical Privileges: Individual Therapy (Adults); Group Therapy (Adults); Chemical Dependency Individual and Group Therapy (Adults).  Evaluation/Assessment Credentials: Psychological Evaluation; Bio-psychosocial Assessment (Adults).  Order Privileges: Evaluation and Discharge of Baker Act Clients; Baker Act 32-Second Opinion.

 

Clinical Coordinator, Crisis Stabilization Units (March 2001-August 2001)

Supervised screeners, therapists, and discharge planners at a state-funded Baker Act receiving facility.  Coordinated Baker Act administration for Sarasota County.  Provided clinical evaluations for BA-52 involuntary commitment, BA-32 transfer to state hospital, and release from involuntary status.  Participated in development and delivery of state-mandated training for employees of Baker Act receiving facilities.  Supervised clinical psychology trainees providing therapeutic services and assessments to inpatient clients.  Served on the CSU management team and provided after-hours administrative call support.

Psychological Intern, University Counseling Center (August 1996-August 1997) 

(APA Accreditation: Full)  Provided psychotherapy (individual and group) and assessment for undergraduate and graduate students.  Provided on-call crisis intervention services for residential students.  Conducted consultation and outreach programs for the university community.  Supervised practicum students from UW’s APA-accredited clinical psychology Ph.D. program.  Additional rotations: Student Health Service (behavioral health diagnostic assessment and treatment), Drug Education Resource Center (substance abuse assessment and community intervention) and Student Development (campus education and outreach).  This program follows a multidisciplinary collaborative model with supervision by licensed psychologists and family practice physicians.  Additional duties: provided stress management consultation for graduate hall coordinators; assisted with planning and delivery of alcohol education programs for incoming students as a Drug Education Resource Center staff member; provided mental health consultation services to other units in the Division of Student Affairs, including the Office of the Dean of Students and Residential Life.
