Services

The goals of Information Technology is to provide computer resources, hardware and software support and training to New College of Florida. Our software services range from word processing and spread sheet applications to full Internet access. The Information Technology Open Use Laboratory is located on the second floor of the Jane Bancroft Cook Library, room 223. Specific services offered by Information Technology is listed below.

Assistance
If you need assistance with a computer, you can enter your request on our RT help desk system. Responses will be sent directly back to your email account. If your problem cannot be resolved in that manner, you can send a request for assistance to the Information Technology email. Or you may call us (941) 487-4350.

Computer Access
The Open Use computer lab (LBR 223) with Pentium based computers is available for all currently enrolled students, staff and faculty. Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, SAS, Maple 10, email programs and other appropriate applications are available on these computers. You can consult the listing of lab hours for details on availability.

Note: The Teaching Laboratories (PMA 117 and HCL5) are used for credit bearing classes and training only.

Email Accounts
If you are a student, NewCLEIS will enable you to signup for your student email address online. You will need your "N" number and PIN. If you have already signed up for a email account, but have forgotten your password, you may enter a helpdesk request using RT or call the Help Desk at (941) 487-4350.

Mailman List Serv
A mailing list is simply a list of addresses to which a given communication is being sent. In the case of an electronic mailing list like Mailman, we use a list of email addresses from people interested in hearing about or discussing a given topic.

A powerful and easy to use collaborative message board, threaded postings, attachments, chat, individual conferences and more.

Media Support and Training Opportunities
Educational Technology Services (ETS) is dedicated to providing training opportunities to faculty, staff, and students in regard to academic computing. Training may be software or hardware related and can take place in small group or one-on-one sessions. Not only will ETS focus on media-related applications such as photo and video editing, multimedia presentations, and the like, but it will also endeavor to support applications that foster greater productivity and educational research.
