What is Mailman Lists?

A mailing list is simply a list of addresses to which a given communication is being sent. In the case of an electronic mailing list like Mailman, we use a list of email addresses from people interested in hearing about or discussing a given topic.

Two common types of lists are announcement lists and discussion lists, although there are several other possible uses for lists. Faculty might use a list for a given class as a means of student interaction and sharing. A staff member might use a list for a committee they chair. A student might request a list for a student organization they are managing.
