A Great Place to Have Fun
Florida is the sunshine state. So it's little wonder with our waterfront campus and year-round warm temperatures that outdoor activities and bare feet symbolize the personal freedom of New College. And since almost 75% of our students live on campus, there is always something fun going on.
If you're into fitness, our professionally-managed recreation center features racquetball courts, Nautilus room, dance/exercise room, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a 25-meter swimming pool, a whirlpool, and a multi-purpose playing field for softball, soccer, and Frisbee. You can also check out sports equipment, including gear for camping and scuba diving.
If you prefer the water or hiking, our Caples Campus provides a launch site for canoes and small sailboats (both of which are available for student use) and nearby Myakka State Park features miles of wooded trails. Of course, Sarasota is world-famous for its white sand beaches. Those are just a short bike ride away from campus.
On weekends and evenings, there is plenty to do in Sarasota as well. The Saturday morning farmers' market is popular with students and faculty alike, and downtown features an abundance of coffee shops, quaint restaurants, bookstores, theaters and shopping to suit any taste.
