Stop 5: Housing
New College of Florida places a strong value on its residential campus environment, which is why all students are required to live on campus unless they have been released to live off-campus by arrangement with the Office of Residential Life.

With the opening of five new residence halls in the fall of 2007, we now provide housing for approximately 700 students on campus. This fulfills our vision of a student village where academics and campus life seamlessly intertwine and learning occurs around the clock.

Our five new state-of-the-art residence halls were designed according to "green building" standards and offer both lodge and urban-style accommodations for more than 200 students. The four lodge-style halls (Searing and the Letter Halls) feature studio, three and three bedroom apartments, each with their own kitchenette and bathroom, opening onto a two-story, timbered-ceiling common area. Each of the buildings also includes its own laundry facility, well-equipped community kitchen and educational seminar rooms. Pritzker Residence Hall offers urban-style apartment accommodations, each with a bathroom en suite, and features an open-air lounge and amphitheater as part of its common spaces. All of the new buildings feature flat and gabled roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows in their common areas to make good use of Florida's abundant year-round sunshine.

Designed by internationally-renowned architect I.M. Pei, New College's Pei Residence Halls opened in 1965 and accommodate more than 250 students in double-occupancy rooms, each with its own private bathroom. Public rooms and community space in the Pei buildings are located in each quad of the Pei buildings, and the outdoor Palm Court around which the rooms are grouped is a focus of New College student life. Pei is located on the East Campus.

Opened in 1998-1999, the Dallas and Elizabeth Dort and Ann and Alfred Goldstein Residence Halls provide accommodations for approximately 150 students in apartment-style suites, each including its own living room, kitchenette and bathroom facilities. The Dort and Goldstein Residence Halls are located near the Fitness Center on our East Campus.

Located on our bayfront Palmer Campus, B-dorm houses 32 students in single bedrooms with common lounges and bathrooms. Because of its somewhat secluded location on campus, B-Dorm is popular among thesis students and is known for the community spirit that develops among its residents.
