Fund raising activities

The costs for the 2002 expedition for students were: $650/week, plus airfare $470, plus chamber fees of $12/3 weeks. There was a departure tax of $20 US and a health tax of $2. We have been notified that the airfare is likely to be $600/person this year. We have not been notified whether the costs at the RIMS will increase, but it is unlikely. If we can gather funds early, there is a chance of getting cheaper air fares.

Students work in fund raising efforts to help defray part of the cost for the program. These have consisted of garage sales in the Fall and Spring, parking cars for the Medieval Fair, a dance exhibition, carwashes, a faculty lecture series and working at school gatherings such as the major Foundation functions. An ongoing recycling project allows students to obtain small sums for advertising supplies. Students have also sold ice cream coupons.

In the past, we have been able to defray most of the cost for students with grants and fund raising. It has become necessary to increase our fund raising efforts as grants are beginning to disappear.  We can take donated items to a consignment shop for some income, so if you have items please contact me.

All students interested in the program are required to submit grants to the alumnae/i association and to the NC Foundation.

Students interested in the program should keep informed about upcoming events.
