GRANTS AND OTHER NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID
In addition to an academic scholarship, you could qualify for even more gift assistance if you’re a US citizen, permanent resident alien, or qualified non-resident alien. New College of Florida will meet a percentage of need, as defined by federal methodology, with gift aid. Just complete the 2008/2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1, 2008. Our school code is 039574. Complete both your admission application file AND your FAFSA by February 15, 2008 for priority consideration for need-based funding.
First Generation Matching Grant for Florida Residents3
The State of Florida offers need-based financial assistance to Florida residents who will be “First Generation in College.” You may be eligible for this grant at New College if all of the following apply:
- You’re a Florida resident3 for tuition purposes
- Neither parent has completed a baccalaureate or bachelor’s degree. (If you reside with, and receive regular support from, only one parent, you may be eligible if that parent has not completed a baccalaureate degree.)
- You have financial need as determined by completion of the 2008/2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- You don’t owe repayment of any state or federal grant or scholarship program funds.
- You’re not in default of any federal Title IV or state student loan program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made.
- You have not previously received a baccalaureate degree.
- You submit a completed 2008/2009 First Generation Grant Application by the deadline (April 15, 2008).
Grant awards for this program will range from $200 up to your cost of attendance (minus any other federal, state, institutional, and private grants and/or scholarships you are awarded). This grant will be used to help meet unmet financial need, or to reduce the need for loan funding.
