New College Faculty Information

We encourage faculty members, visiting faculty teaching at NCF, and adjuncts to take part in the Inauguration Procession on Feb. 15. The drill will be similar to that followed for New College graduation, but slightly different.

Please report to Cook Hall at 2:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 15 for robing in regalia (or not, your choice) and marching out in the Procession, led by Marshal Rick Coe, at 3:00 PM. Personal belongings can ONLY be left in Room 125 Cook Hall (Suzanne Janney’s office), which will be locked during the Ceremony. Parking will be tight, so it's best to park at a distance or share a ride.

Parking attendants will direct people to park on the grass, as they do at graduation. We expect approximately 65 -70 delegates from other colleges and universities to be part of the Procession. Delegates will be robing in College Hall between 2 and 3pm and will process in the order in which the institutions they represent were founded. A list of Delegate names and schools will be available next week.

By 2:45 PM the NC Faculty should move from Cook Hall to the College Hall Music Room to line up for the Procession through College Hall. At 3:00 PM, the Procession will start from College Hall, led by College Marshal Rick Coe, followed by the Delegates, then the NC Faculty, down the College Hall steps facing the bay and into the tent, which will have the platform on the bay side (different from the north side, used at graduation). Delegates representing other schools will be seated in the first rows on the left, facing the platform, and the New College Faculty will be seated in the first rows on the right side, facing the platform.

New College Board of Trustee members will be seated on the platform, along with the College Chaplain John Walker and College Rabbi Ed Rosenthal, the Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll, Chancellor Frank Brogan, Joanne Creighton, Interim President of Haverford, Immediate Past President Mike Michalson, Steve Miles and John Martin, Rick Coe, Robert Lincoln and Brian Doherty, who will carry in the archival symbols of office. BOT Chair Bill Johnston will be in charge.

The Kiltie Band Bagpipers from Riverview High school will pipe the processional/recessional music and the Acapellago group will provide a musical interlude of song on the program.

Immediately following the Ceremony (estimated at 4:30 pm), everyone is invited to a reception in Cook and College Hall to celebrate our new President and to enjoy performances by the New Cats.
