Vice President for Finance and Administration - John Martin
John has spent his entire professional career in higher education administration and has been New College’s Vice President for Finance and Administration since the College gained independence in 2001. Prior to his work at New College, John served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration for the University of Houston System and as Associate Vice President for Administration for the University of Houston main campus. He has also worked at Florida State University in a variety of positions, including Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management, Director of Business Auxiliary Services, and Assistant Vice President for Administration. He holds a
bachelor of science degree in business administration
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in public administration from Florida State University.

Al Gilligan
Al has worked in or around higher education throughout his career. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Florida State University, where he subsequently worked for eighteen years in a number of capacities. He was Director of Business/Auxiliary Services prior to leaving FSU to become the Vice President for Sales and Marketing for a smart card company. In that role, he traveled to campuses throughout the country. He has also worked as a consultant for a variety of companies, including an international stint with Citibank. Immediately prior to joining the New College of Florida team, Al was Vice President for Sales and Marketing for an electronic purchasing start-up company.
Office Manager - Marsha Temple
Marsha is a Texas native who joined the New College of Florida team in 2003. Prior to New College she worked 15 years in the Chancellor’s Office and 6 years in other administrative offices at the University of North Texas. She has also held positions in an architectural firm and an oil and gas company.
