Our Graduates in Classics

Dana Arak ’98 is associate counsel for Forever 21, Inc. She earned her law degree at the University of Florida and wrote her New College thesis on “A Photographic Interpretation of Myth from the Metamorphoses of Ovid.”

Classics at New College is an ideal AOC for students who want to pursue business, law, education and the arts. Our program focuses on close attention to detail developed through language study, a heavy focus on close reading and strong writing, and a broad knowledge of the historical and literary background of Western civilization.

Kerrick Lucker earned a M.A. in museum education from John F. Kennedy University.

Ana McGrath earned a M.L.S. from the University of South Florida.

Vanesa Botero-Lowry earned a M.P.A. from the LBJ School of Public Affairs of the University of Texas-Austin.

Danielle Reid is a graduate student in history at the University of Florida.

Alexander Hague is director of marketing and research at Generation Rwanda, New York City.

Sam Grindstaff is a guitarist, vocalist and writer for a number of well-respected bands, including The Titans of Filth and The Buteos in Athens, GA.

Vanesa Botero-Lowry is a teacher with Teach for America.

Kali Rainwater is in the U.S. Navy.

Matthew Newton is in pharmaceutical benefits management in Tampa, FL.

Zachary Low is an ESL teacher at State College of Florida.

Ross Berlin works for Habitat for Humanity.

Anya Grady is a Latin teacher at Lakewood Ranch High School in Florida.

A recent survey of New College alumnae/i found that nearly 80 percent of respondents with AOCs in Classics went on to attend graduate or professional schools, most of them in law, education and business.
