The New College Sailing Program Do you want to learn how to sail or maintain boats? It is a fun way to get
outside and explore Sarasota and the surrounding bay area. New College students, USF-Sarasota students, staff, faculty and alumni are all welcome! In order to take out boats without supervision, members must pass a basic seamanship test. They must also be checked out on the boat that they wish to use. Come spend some time sailing beautiful Sarasota Bay! What We DoWe hold weekly meetings Saturdays at noon. We sail, maintain and repair boats, and sailboards. These have been purchased for or donated to the sailing club. We teach our members about sailing, boat care and upkeep.LocationOur coordinates are: 27*22.80N 082*33.89W For Landlubbers: The New College Sailing Program is located on the New College's historic Caples Campus behind the Mildred Sainer Arts Pavilion (5313 Bayshore Road), just south of the Ringling Mansion off of Bayshore Boulevard. Boat Donation ProgramNew College is seeking private donations of boats. The New College Foundation's new Boat-Donation Program accepts gifts of sailboats, motorboats, trailers, ATVs, cars, canoes or kayaks, is being chaired by boat-builder and 1970 New College alumnus Tom Mayers, owner of Lands End Marina on Long Boat Key.
