Professor Scudder teaches the organic chemistry sequence and courses and tutorials in related areas. He regularly offers courses in advanced organic chemistry and in structure elucidation.

His current research is in the synthesis of interesting organic compounds for electrochemical and spectroscopic studies, chiral catalysis, and enzymatic model studies.

Professor Scudder is the author of the text Electron Flow in Organic Chemistry.
