Emily Fairchild

Assistant Professor of Sociology

Professor Fairchild's research and teaching interests include: gender, sociology of culture, social psychology, race/ethnicity, the scholarship of teaching and learning, feminist theory, and qualitative methods. Her dissertation examined gender performances in weddings and commitment ceremonies. Her current projects include: an examination of "consumerist" attitudes among undergraduate students, analysis of gender representation in 20th century children's books, and an exploration of the effects of maternal employment on gender-related attitudes.
