Current Research and Opportunities

Pritzker offers many opportunities for aquatic research. Faculty members lead trips to Honduras and Panama each year, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in the field. Students also take advantage of the rich diversity, both marine and freshwater, found in Pritzker's backyard. Sarasota Bay is steps away from the front door and the Myakka River State Park is only a 40 minute drive east. Along with general lab space, Pritzker has dedicated labs for behavioral and electrophysiology research.

The most recent research projects at Pritzker were student theses. Several students concentrated on topics related to coral reefs - some in the field in Honduras, some here in the lab. One investigated coral wound healing rates while another explored the territoriality and reproductive behavior of a small local seabass.

Classes being held in Pritzker during the Fall '08 semester are:

Invertebrate Zoology
Neurobiology and Behavior of Marine Animals
Marine Lab Outreach Program tutorial
Governing the Oceans
