Mexico Solidarity Network Abroad

A study abroad experience that focuses on the social movements in Mexico.

National Student Exchange (NSE)

Study at 190 participating colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada or in six international locations. Pay tuition to New College and room and board to the host institution. See www.nse.org.  Bright Futures applies.

New College of Oxford

New College of Oxford is one of the 39 constituent colleges of Oxford University, Oxford, England. Founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham, this historic association of colleges is located in the centre of the city. The tutorial system is a unique element of study at Oxford; students meet weekly with faculty to chart work and progress. Tuition is approximately $13,000 USD for 12 weeks. The price is subject to fluctuation in accord with changes in the value of the British pound. Disregard the tuition amount posted on the Oxford site. Oxford provides a discounted rate to Florida state schools.

Florida State University Study Centers in London, England and Florence, Italy

Social Science and Humanities courses are offered by visiting U.S. faculty in conjunction with locally-based experts. University-owned facilities in the city make these programs a cost-effective introduction to European city life and culture. Bright Futures applies.

Budapest Semester in Mathematics

Mathematics students from around the world come together for advanced study in one of the historic centers of mathematical research and teaching.

College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS)

Over 40 study abroad programs in 28 countries for a semester, summer, or academic year. Since most consortium members are public institutions, program costs are fairly low.

School for International Training (SIT) Study Abroad

Field-based, academic, undergraduate programs from the School for International Training provide introduction to the host country's culture, home stays with local families, intensive language study, and Independent Study Projects.

Living Routes

Ecovillages in Mexico, India, Peru, the United States, Scotland, Brazil, and Senegal are ideal campuses for students to learn about sustainable development.

National Student Exchange

The National Student Exchange is a consortium of 190 colleges and universities within the U.S. and Canada and six international locations including Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, and Spain.

Your regular tuition is paid to New College. Bright Futures, private scholarships, and New College scholarships are all applied to tuition. This means you can exchange to out-of-state or international schools and pay New College tuition. Room and board are paid to the school that hosts your exchange. For six locations abroad, non-refundable application fees and a $500 administrative fee apply.

The deadline to apply for Fall or Spring programs, domestic and abroad, is February 20, 2009.

All NSE applications for domestic and study abroad programs are submitted to the Career Services & Off-Campus Studies office.

NSE Study Abroad Locations

Universidad de León; Leon, Spain
  • Must have completed at least five semester of college Spanish or the equivalent.
  • Students enroll in an intensive Spanish language course at beginning of semester
  • Courses from many academic disciplines available
Aalborg Universitet; Aalborg, Denmark
  • No foreign language requirement, but required to enroll in Danish language course
  • International Cultural Studies Program
Universitat Kassel; Kassel, Germany

• Must have at least five semester of college German or the equivalent.
• All courses taught in German
• Courses in the Humanities & Social Sciences as well as German-specific courses

Universidad Autónoma de Yucatan; Merida, Mexico
  • Must have completed at least five semester of college Spanish or the equivalent.
  • All courses taught in Spanish
  • Courses in many disciplins available
The Hague School for European Studies; Hague. Netherlands
  • Courses taught in English
  • Students required to enroll in a Dutch language and culture course
  • Semester or year-long study at The Hague School for European Studies

NSE Fees

The NSE presents great cost savings but it isn't free. You will pay a few hundred dollars more to exchange domestically or abroad than you would pay in fees and tuition at New College. Costs will vary according to location and you'll have to pay for airfare and related travel expenses.

The non-refundable application fee for U.S. exchanges is $150 and subject to rise. Your host school may also charge activity fees. Study abroad programs (six locations only) carry an administrative fee of $500, payable upon acceptance. The administrative fee is typical of all study abroad programs, whether through NSE or other programs.

NSE Payments

These checks are submitted to Career Services along with completed applications & materials:
  • A $150 non-refundable application fee for U.S. exchanges payable to New College Foundation
  • An additional $20 non-refundable application fee for international exchanges payable to University of Wisconsin - Green Bay (UW-GB)
After UWGB accepts your application for an international exchange, you must submit:
  • A $500 administrative fee payable to UWGB. Deadline is the first Friday of UWGB's on-campus classes for the applicable semester of study. The UWGB website will have the dates. Fee is partially refundable if you withdraw from the program by the deadline on the UWGB website.
Tuition is paid as usual to New College. Room and board is paid in your host country.
