Scholarships for Out-of-State Freshmen

All first-time-in-college students admitted for Fall 2009 will be considered for scholarship funding to attend New College. There is no separate application form for this. If you also complete your admission application file by February 15, 2009, we GUARANTEE scholarship funding.
All required materials (including official transcripts, exam scores, and the recommendation) must be all of your application materials, postmarked or transmitted by the deadline and received no later than 10 days after the deadline. As available, scholarship funding will be considered for admitted students who complete the admission application file by April 15, 2009. Tuition and scholarship funding amounts are tied to Florida's State University System rules for residency. For more information on residency contact your admissions counselor. New College of Florida offers these scholarships: Four Winds AwardsThe Four Winds Award is based on your high school achievement as well as standardized test scores.We award these scholarships by calculating your SAT Critical Reading and Math scores, as well as your adjusted high school GPA1 (If you took the ACT, use this Conversion Chart to convert your score). Use the calculator below to estimate your Institutional Rating and determine the scholarship award amount that may be available to you.

Requirements:Recipients of these awards are chosen by the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. You are eligible for consideration if you are graduating from a diploma program for the Advanced International Certificate of Education or the full IB Diploma Programme; are a member of the FEF National Achievers Society or a Ventures Scholar; or are graduating from a member program in the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology. If you receive this award, we will add it to your Four Winds Award or Excellence Award. Requirements:New College Junior Scholars are selected by their high schools for exemplifying the shared values of the educational missions of the International Baccalaureate Programme and New College.Grants & Other Need based Financial AidIn addition to an academic scholarship, you could qualify for even more gift assistance if you are a US Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or qualified non-resident alien. New College of Florida will meet a percentage of need, as defined by federal methodology, with gift aid. Just complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1, 2009. Our school code is 039574.
Complete both your admission application file and your FAFSA by February 15, 2009 for priority consideration for need-based funding. Notes1 New College will recalculate your high school GPA for admission consideration, and use the same GPA in the Institutional Rating Calculator. A 4.0 is the maximum GPA to affect the Institutional Rating. For more information on high school GPA, contact New College Admissions to discuss this with your admissions counselor.
2 Scholarship packages may be funded by multiple sources. If you qualify for more than one type of scholarship, you will be assigned only the highest level of award for which you are eligible (with the exception of the Affinity Award and IB Scholar Award which may supplement the highest level of award as noted). 3 Tuition and scholarship funding amounts are tied to Florida's State University System rules for residency.
