The Application

If you've contacted us requesting an application packet, we’ll mail you information about applying.  You may apply online or download all the application parts

The following is a list of the application parts and their instructions. These instructions, along with the appropriate forms, are included in the application packet and the downloadable version of the application.

Application Parts

All applicants must submit each of the items listed below.

·         Application for Admission: The fastest and easiest way to submit your application is to apply online through the Common Application. If you prefer, you can download the application from our website, or request a paper application be mailed to you from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid; if you choose this option, we suggest you make a photocopy before mailing your original to our office.

·         $30 Non-refundable Application Fee: Enclose a check or money order (drawn on a US bank in US funds only and made payable to New College of Florida) with your completed application. If you prefer, you may pay your application fee with a credit card by phone by calling (941) 487-5000.

·         Transcript(s): Arrange to have an official transcript sent from each secondary and post-secondary school you have attended. Failure to do so could result in denial of admission or an offer of admission being revoked.  If you completed high school by GED, an official transcript of your GED exam scores and official high school transcript are required.  Students earning the AA from a Florida public community college should inquire individually about the possibility of waiving the high school transcript requirement. New College is a SPEEDE institution. We may be addressed by FASTER schools using Institution ID '10002' and Spex Inst ID '730000003957400'.

·         Standardized Test Results (SAT or ACT): Scores must be sent directly to our office by the testing service. (On the College Entrance Examination Board's request form, use program code #5506; on the American College Testing Program's request form, use ACT code #0750.) For more information see their websites: www.collegeboard.com or www.act.org.   We may accept scores reported on official school transcripts.  SAT subject exams are not required.  Students earning the AA from a Florida public community college should inquire individually about waiving the requirement for SAT or ACT scores.

·         Letter of Recommendation: Give this form to a guidance counselor, college advisor, principal, dean or teacher who has taught you in an academic subject within the past two years at your school.

International Applicants

In addition to the items listed above, international applicants should expect to submit the items listed below.  If you have any questions, contact Sonia Wu, our International Admissions Coordinator.

·         TOEFL scores: If you are not a native speaker of English, you must submit TOEFL scores. (Use institution code #5506.) The minimum TOEFL score required for admission to New College is 560 (paper test), 220 (computer-based test) or 83 (internet-based test). Scores must be sent directly to our office by the testing service. For more information see the TOEFL website.   We will also accept a score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System exem (www.ielts.org). Translation and Evaluation: Documentation of secondary-level and any college- or university-level studies presented in any language other than English must be accompanied by professional, certified English translations. Documentation of secondary-level and any college- or university-level studies that do not have US accreditation must also be evaluated by a NACES-member service such as Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. (www.jsilny.com) or World Education Services (www.wes.org).  Translations and evaluations supplement, but do not replace, the original documents.

·         New College of Florida Visa Clearance for International Students: This form is required if you currently hold a US Visa.

·         The Financial Statement form is mailed to admitted international students no sooner than six months prior to the intended term of entry.  (The completed form is required for us to issue an I-20, so that an enrolling student may seek an F-1 student visa.)
