Biography:
What led you to choose NCF for this degree?
I was attracted to the freedom that New College of Florida offered. I came from a really structured high school and I wanted something as different as possible. I also wanted to go to a small school and New College of Florida certainly fits that description.
Please tell us about what makes NCF so special?
The ease of contacting and speaking to professors is really incredible here. I have a friend that goes to UF that was excited about talking to his professor for five minutes after class. Here, I could easily set up an appointment with a professor and have a decently long conversation. The professors are also extremely approachable. I'm probably going to end up doing my ISP with a professor that I've never met and I'm not really too worried about that.
What advice would you give to current or prospective students?
Don't focus on career choices when you're picking classes - in other words, don't study science when what you really love is history just because you think it will be easier to get a job in that field.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans seem to change every couple of days, so I've decided not to think about it too much. I'm only a first year, after all.
