Biography:

What led you to choose NCF for this degree?
I transferred from Emerson College (Boston, Mass.) and found New College to be the best value. Its good education and alternative social environment offer more than other Florida schools.

What do you like about NCF and your major?
What I like best about my major are the professors with whom I work. They’re all highly academic without a lot of the bureaucratic nonsense that comes with being “intellectual.” The instructors I’ve worked with are passionate in a very earthy way, and they seem to earnestly get a rush from teaching to their students. I can’t tell you how inspiring it is to be learning from individuals like that, particularly in the area of which I am equally passionate about.

What do you value most about studying at NCF?
New College is a unique experience in that the bulk of the workload is left for students to organize. Might that be class selection, ISP's, or thesis development, students at New College have most of the say in their own education. Given my hermit-like tendencies, I like the degree of independence that I am able to have here. The system of contracts and evaluations is another example of this very same process.

What are your plans for the future?
Well, in the very near future with relation to New College, I plan to hopefully do an internship this summer at a magazine or literary review of some sort in New York City. I additionally want to do a study abroad in France during the upcoming fall term.

After New College, I plan on going on to do my Master’s and hopefully a Ph.D. Ideally, I see myself teaching literature/poetry at a university after all this is said and done.
