Profile Spotlights
As the state of Florida’s officially-designated “honors college for the liberal arts and sciences,” New College of Florida attracts leading students from throughout the United States and, indeed, from around the world. All are drawn by the chance to be active participants in designing their own curriculum and pursuing their specific areas of academic interest, New College trademarks since our founding in 1960.
Whether in the classroom, by volunteering in the local community or through our innovative ISP (Independent Study) program, New College students are actively involved in making the world around them a better place. They are also national leaders when it comes to undergraduate research. Both are facts that have been recognized and applauded by independent research organizations around the country, including Indiana University’s Center for Postsecondary Research. Their National Survey of Student Engagement has named New College students among the nation’s leaders in student involvement, academic engagement and community participation for each of the past four years running.
On these pages, we will introduce you to some of New College’s phenomenal students and let them describe in their own words what makes the New College experience so special.
Please take a look at our student spotlights and student ISP spotlights, which will continue to evolve as we have students leaving for the Galapagos Islands January 20th, 2006.
