(2013-0527) 05/20/13, 2:57 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student of the theft of items from her pocketbook over a period of several days. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs and the Counseling and Wellness Center. (2013-0525) 05/17/13, 3:01 AM: Campus Police discovered two non-affiliated subjects in the Hamilton Center Parking Lot. One subject was checked, issued a No Trespass Order and released. The second subject had been previously trespassed by Campus Police on 051513 after a New College Student advised Campus Police he was offering to sell the Student a controlled substance. That subject fled onto the Ringling Museum Property and was convinced to surrender by a Sarasota County Sheriff's K9. The Sarasota Police Department and SRQ Airport Police also assisted The subject was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and then to the Sarasota County Jail. The subject, who is on State Probation, was charged with Trespass after Warning and Resisting an Officer w/o Violence. The matter remains under investigation. 05/10/13, 9:43 PM: Campus Police discovered two underage New College Students in possession of alcoholic beverages in the Sudakoff Parking Lot #4A. A Student provided a description of a possible suspect seen in the area but a check of area was negative. (2013-0446) 05/03/13, 1:32 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student regarding the theft of his secured bike from an area near the Academic Center Plaza. The bike was not registered with Campus Police and no information was available to enter into the national database. 04/30/13, 1:06 AM: Campus Police discovered damage to the elevator in Z Residence Hall. Photos of the damage were taken and the on-call Physical Plant Staff Member was contacted. The investigation is continuing. The Student will be referred to Student Affairs for Violation of the NCF Drug/Alcohol Policy based on the Florida State Statute for Possession of Alcoholic Beverage by Persons under 21. (2013-0417) 04/18/13, 9:05 PM: Campus Police located a non-affiliated subject who had been reported as suspicious by a New College Student near the US 41 overpass. The subject was issued a No Trespass Order, checked, and released. The subject was later seen on campus again. Campus Police and the Sarasota Sheriff's Office could not locate the subject the second time. A Capias Request will be forwarded to the Sarasota State Attorney's Office for Trespass after Warning in Sarasota County Court. 04/17/13, 2:00 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member of a suspicious subject in the area of the library leaving on a bike. Campus Police checked the entire area with negative results. The owner of the bike reported the theft on 041813. A serial number was not available for entry in the National Crime Database at this time. 04/13/13, 12:09 AM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that her unlocked bike was taken from the area outside of Goldstein Residence Hall. The bike was not registered with Campus Police and there was no serial number available at this time. 04/06/13, 9:07 AM: Campus Police received a report from a USF Staff Member of a theft from his parked vehicle. The Staff Member called Campus Police back saying he had located the items at another location on the USF Campus. The investigation is continuing. (2013-0341) 03/28/13, 2:42 PM: Campus Police received a report from two New College Students regarding a suspicious subject near Z Residence Hall. The non-affiliated subject had been previously issued a No Trespass Order by Campus Police. The subject was arrested for Trespass after Warning and taken to the Sarasota County Jail after medical clearance at a local hospital. 03/25/13, 3:30 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member of a nude male subject near the Four Winds Cafe. Campus Police located the subject, a New College Student, seated outside the cafe not wearing any clothing. The Student was referred to Student Affairs for a Violation of a Florida State Statute dealing with Public Indecency. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs and the Counseling and Wellness Center. (2013-0315) 03/16/13, 2:10 PM: Campus Police received a call from an RA in Z Residence Hall regarding paint deliberately spread around the Residence Hall entrance area. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs. (2013-0287) 03/09/13, 6:45 AM: Campus Police responded to a Fire Alarm for X Residence Hall. The Sarasota County Fire Department responded and discovered a pull station in the Residence Hall community kitchen area had been activated. There was no damage or signs of a fire and the area was secured. Campus Police contacted Physical Plant Staff to assist in resetting the alarm. The State Fire Marshall responded to the scene and the investigation is continuing. The fire alarm control panel read "Hood System in Kitchen P: 01 C: 03 D: 0170". Campus Police had previously issued one subject a No Trespass Order so he was arrested for Trespass after Warning and transported to the Sarasota County Jail. The second subject was issued a No Trespass Order and escorted from Campus. 03/03/13, 2:14 PM: A New College Student reported the theft of his unsecured New College Loaner Bike taken from the bike rack near the Library. Campus Police continue to work with the Sarasota Police Department in this investigation as the property may have been recovered off-campus. 02/17/13, 3:39 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack outside of Z Residence Hall sometime between February 5 and today. The bike was registered with Campus Police so the serial number was available for entry into the National Crime Database. (2013-0182) 02/17/13, 3:22 AM: Campus Police observed a non-affiliated subject in front of Hamilton Center smoking what appeared to be marijuana from a pipe. Investigation revealed the substance to be marijuana. The subject was arrested for Possession of Marijuana <20 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The subject was issued a No Trespass Order and was taken to the Sarasota County Jail. 02/16/13, 10:14 PM: Campus Police discovered a 20 year old, non-affiliated subject in Palm Court in possession of an alcoholic beverage. The subject was checked, issued a No Trespass Order, and released. The subject was the guest of a New College Student who will be referred to Student Affairs for Violation of the New College Guest Policy. The serial number was not available so the bike could not be entered into the National Crime Database. 02/12/13, 11:39 PM: A New College Student reported the theft of her unsecured bike from the bike rack between the Library and the Ace Building. The serial number was available and the bike was entered into the National Crime Database. 02/12/13, 6:46 PM: Campus Police responded to a report of a non-affiliated person in the area of the Hamilton Center bike racks. Campus Police located the subject and upon investigation discovered that the subject had previously been trespassed from New College and USF and was arrested for trespass on this property. The subject was transported to the Sarasota County Jail and charged with Trespass after Warning. 02/12/13, 3:45 AM: Campus Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a construction staging area near Bay Shore Road and College Drive. A Construction Worker reported that a male subject had driven off in one of the company's trucks and fled the area. Campus Police discovered a New College Students vehicle was struck by the fleeing auto as was a stop sign belonging to New College in the same area. Officers located the stolen vehicle in the Uplands Subdivision Area but the suspect could not be located. The investigation is continuing. (2013-0155) 02/09/13, 9:29 AM: Campus Police received a call from USF Security in reference to a subject on their campus who had previously been issued a No Trespass Order. USF Security provided a description of the subject and he was located on a bike near the Asolo Theater. The subject was confirmed as the same individual who was issued a No Trespass Order in December 2010. As Campus Police did not observe the subject on the USF Campus, a Capias Request for Trespass after Warning will be forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office. The subject was checked, released, and advised to stay off of all properties owned by both USF and New College. A copy of the report will be sent to USF Administration. Two subjects were issued No Trespass Warnings, checked, and released. The third subject had been previously issued a No Trespass Warning by Campus Police in 2005. This subject was arrested for Trespass after Warning and taken to the Sarasota County Jail. A copy of the report will be sent to USF Administration. (2013-0034) 01/10/13, 1:20 AM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that a bicycle was possibly stolen from the area of the Library. The Student making the report had borrowed the bike from his roommate who may have taken the bike back, but due to the hour he did not want to wake the roommate. The Student was advised to have the roommate call in the morning to file a report if it is determined the bike was stolen. The matter remains under investigation. (2013-0021) 01/08/13, 8:44 PM: Campus Police was advised by the Manatee Sheriff's Office that a non-affiliated subject they had arrested was riding a bike off-campus that had a New College Bike Sticker. The bike had been stolen from the area of the Heiser Natural Sciences Building but had not yet been reported by its owner. The Sheriff's Department will handle the charges for the theft of the bike. The bike was returned to the New College Student Owner. 01/06/13 4:06 AM: Campus Police stopped a non-affiliated driver for a traffic violator. Investigation revealed that the driver did not have valid license. The driver was issued a summons for No Valid Driver's License in Sarasota County Court. 01/03/12, 2:47 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member that a Student was on Campus without permission. Investigation revealed the Student had damaged College Property and entered the Z Residence Hall Room of another Student. The matter remains under investigation for possible criminal charges. As all community "Share" bikes are registered with the Campus Police, the serial number was available, and the bike was entered into the FCIC computer system as stolen. 10/16/12, 12:07 PM: Campus Police responded to Pei Residence Hall East in reference to possible drug paraphernalia located by a CLC during a scheduled Fall Break Safety Inspection. The two items field tested positive for narcotics and were placed into evidence. The two New College Students who occupy the room were referred to Student Affairs. (2012-0863) 10/15/12, 8:50 PM: Campus Police stopped a non-affiliated subject for a traffic violation on the East Campus. Investigation revealed suspected marijuana in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 30 Grams and was taken to the Sarasota County Jail. The driver was also issued a Traffic Citation for Disregarding a Stop Sign and a No Trespass Order. 10/14/12, 2:13 AM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that two subjects had stolen a New College golf cart and drove it into a cement island. The subjects then fled the area. The golf cart belonged to Student Government and a key had been left in the cart when it was parked. The matter remains under investigation. A work order was completed to Physical Plant for removal. 09/23/12, 3:04 PM: Campus Police discovered some spot lights damaged near Pei Residence Hall South. (2012-0753) 09/01/12, 11:10 PM: Campus Police discovered a 20 year old New College Student in possession of alcohol while being under age near the Sudakoff Center. The beer was confiscated and placed into Evidence. The Student was referred to Student Affairs for Violation of the New College Alcohol Policy. (2012-0663) 08/19/12, 11:05 PM: Campus Police discovered an underage New College Student in possession of alcohol near Pei Residence Hall East. The Student was referred to Student Affairs for violation of the Alcohol Policy. While investigating this incident, another Student, who identified himself as the "head of Student Affairs" and a member of the New College Student Alliance, verbally berated the officer and interfered with the investigation. That Student was referred to Student Affairs also. The filing of Criminal Charges against the interfering Student is pending and the matter remains under investigation. The subject later found the wallet but it was missing currency and some identification. 07/27/12, 4:19 PM: A juvenile Duke Tip student reported that he lost his wallet somewhere on the New College campus sometime between 07/19 and 07/27. The wallet contained $200.00 in currency and a $100.00 gift card. A theft report was initiated. The matter remains under investigation. 05/18/12, 7:30 PM: Campus Police discovered a suspicious vehicle occupied by a non-affiliated subject in the 500 Block of Poinciana Drive. Investigation later revealed that the driver was a Habitual Traffic Offender. The driver will be charged with Providing False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked in Sarasota County Court. 05/11/12, 2:19 PM: Campus Police received a report of damage to a tree near the Sudakoff Center and the Z Residence Hall. Person(s) unknown had carved two swastikas into a tree. Two New College Students involved fled when approached by Campus Police. The matter remains under investigation. The Students will be referred to Student Affairs. (2012-0393) 04/14/12, 1:32 AM: Campus Police responded to a report from a New College Dorm Patroller that Students were being bothered by three non-affiliated subjects near Z Residence Hall. While investigating, two non-affiliated subjects were issued No Trespass Orders and one fled from the area. The matter remains under investigation with charges for Refusal to Identify, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting an Officer w/o Violence pending. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant for repair. 04/12/12, 10:07 AM: Campus Police responded to a report from a Faculty Member that his car had been damaged while parked in the Sudakoff Parking Lot, PL4A. The car had been scratched and the damage was documented. 04/12/12, 3:49 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that his rear tire and hardware had been removed while the unlocked bike was parked by B Residence Hall. 04/10/12, 10:07 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student of a bike stolen from the area of Y Residence Hall. The bike was unlocked but registered with Campus Police allowing the serial number to be entered into the Nationwide Database. 04/09/12, 11:56 AM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that his truck's tailgate was scratched and damaged while parked in an East Campus Parking Lot. 03/24/12, 6:16 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member that a boat belonging to New College had been missing since March 16, 2012. The boat was recovered by the Sarasota Police Department within their jurisdiction and the matter remains under investigation. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs and Environmental Heath and Safety. (2012-0292) 03/23/12, 6:23 PM: Campus Police located two pieces of drug paraphernalia outside of Pei Residence Hall East in the 2nd Court Area. The items were placed into evidence after testing. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs. (2012-0288) 03/20/12, 11:20 AM: Campus Police arrested a non-affiliated subject on a No Bond Warrant out of Hillsborough County who was visiting a New College Student on the East Side of Campus. The subject was issued a No Trespass Order and taken to the Sarasota County Jail. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs. (2012-0281) 03/09/12, 3:15 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that his unlocked bike was stolen from Pei Residence Hall East. It was later discovered that the bike was borrowed by another Student/Friend and was returned. 03/07/12, 1:30 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Faculty Member that a College owned piece of electronics had been missing sometime during a recent two week period. A serial number was available so it was entered into the National Crime Database. A copy of the report will be sent to Environmental Health and Safety and the Provost's Office. (2012-0230) 03/02/12, 10:17 AM: Campus Police received a report from the Campus Bookstore that a day before a subject had taken two textbooks by concealing them underneath his shirt and leaving. The matter remains under investigation. A copy of the report will be sent to USF Administration and the Campus Bookstore. (2012-0218) 02/29/12, 4:57 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that her unsecured bike was removed from the area of Goldstein Residence Hall. The bike was not registered with Campus Police so it was not able to be entered into the National Crime Database. 02/24/12, 11:58 PM: Campus Police responded to a Burglar Alarm at the Campus Bookstore. Investigation revealed entry had been made and the matter remains under investigation. Nothing of value appears to have be taken but some glass was damaged. A copy of the report will be sent to USF Administration. (2012-0205). 02/22/12, 4:33 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member that a chain on a Physical Plant Complex Gate may have been tampered with. The incident was documented. 02/22/12, 1:45 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Student that his bike was stolen from the area of Pei Residence Hall South. The bike's serial number was entered into the National Crime Database. 02/21/12, 3:05 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Faculty Member that a piece of computer equipment was damaged in the Sainer Fine Arts Complex. A copy of the report will be sent to Environmental Health and Safety and the Provost's Office. (2012-0191) 12/21/11, 11:15 AM: Physical Plant staff reported that a traffic bollard located at the western terminus of the Dort Promenade was missing. Investigation continues. 12/21/11, 9:41 AM: Residence Life staff reported that the third floor elevator door of the Goldstein Residence Hall had apparently been "glued shut" by a powerful adhesive. A contractor had been called to open the door. Cost of damage cited as approximately $250.00. 12/19/11, 1:28 PM: Campus Police received a report from a New College Staff Member of criminal mischief to a sign at US 41 and General Spaatz caused by graffiti. 11/30/11, 11:44 AM: A New College student notified CPD that her secured bike had been taken from a Pei Residence Hall South courtyard bike rack sometime between November 23rd and the 24th. The bike was entered into the CJIS computer system as stolen. 11/28/11, 10:20 AM: The New College Parking Services Coordinator reported that an unknown suspect had stolen a "15 Minute Parking" sign and post from the north side of 58th Street. Physical Plant was notified. 11/26/11, 11:26 AM: Campus Police received a report that an office belonging to the Sailing Club had been entered illegally in the Caples Mansion. There was no apparent theft and the matter remains under investigation. 11/16/11, 3:04 PM: Campus Police received a report of Sexual Battery from a New College Student. The matter remains under investigation by Campus Police. A copy of the report will be sent to Student Affairs. (2011-0992) | ||
