Academic Resource Center (ARC)

The Academic Resource Center (ARC), located on the first floor of the Jane Bancroft Cook Library, is a place where students and faculty from both New College and USF Sarasota-Manatee can congregate, network and bond. Located at the rear of the reference area on the main floor, it is a space to study, to relax, to make voice recordings, edit video and scan documents and receive individualized attention.

The ARC houses New College’s Quantitative Resource Center, Writing Resource Center, Language Resource Center, Educational Technology Services, and an open-use computer lab available to both New College and USF Sarasota-Manatee patrons. Additionally, there is plenty of room and movable furniture for study and collaboration. The ARC is open during library hours.

The ARC seminar room is available for New College or USF meetings, study groups, presentations, film or TV viewing. The space accommodates up to 15 persons with table space. A 55" LCD TV with cable and satellite programming in French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Russian and English is available.

Educational Technology Services (ETS)
ETS offers equipment, training and project support. The staff supports a wide variety of software applications and will help students identify and use the best tools for academic and research-oriented projects.

Quantitative Resource Center (QRC)
The QRC is dedicated to aiding the New College community in working with quantitative matters. They provide individual and small group peer tutoring for students needing assistance with various quantitative methods (e.g. basic mathematics and statistics, SAS, SPSS, Excel, and others applications).

Writing Resource Center (WRC)
The WRC staff can help you brainstorm for ideas, form a thesis, and back up your opinion in a paper, adapt material for various audiences, even help you overcome writer’s block.

Language Resource Center (LRC)
The LRC is designed to provide resources and support to language students and faculty. Audio-visual and print resources, language software, and games are available. It's also a social space where students can work individually or in groups as well as relax or interact with each other.
