Ivy League College Fair at New College
Draws Top Local High-School Students

(March 20, 2007) –
About 150 of the
best and brightest high-school sophomores and juniors in Sarasota
and Manatee counties met with representatives of a dozen of the
nation's best colleges and universities March 17 at New College of
Florida.
The Ivy League
Consortium of Sarasota held its first Ivy League College Fair for
invited students from 20 local schools in New College's Sudakoff
Center.
An estimated 400
high-schoolers and their parents and guidance counselors, attended
the two-hour Saturday afternoon event.
Alumni of the 11
Northeastern U.S. schools living in the Sarasota-Manatee area manned
the information tables to answer questions about academics and
college life at their alma maters.
The 12 schools
represented were Barnard College, Brown University, Dartmouth
College, Harvard University, Mount Holyoke College, University of
Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Smith College, Vassar College,
Wellesley College, Yale University and host New College.
The College Fair,
which organizers plan to make an annual event, was organized and
funded by local alumni groups of the colleges and universities, and
chaired by Charlotte Isaacs of the Wellesley Club of Sarasota.
