About the President

Gordon E. "Mike" Michalson, Jr. was appointed President of New College of Florida on January 7, 2003, selected by the Board of Trustees in a 13-month national search. Dr. Michalson, Professor of Humanities at New College, served as Acting President from 2001 to 2003 and as Dean and Warden of New College of USF from 1992 to 1997. Prior to that, he taught at Oberlin College for 15 years, where he chaired the Department of Religion. He continues to teach one course each year at New College.
