Off-Campus Study

During the 2001-2002 academic year, New College students studied in India, Kenya, Australia, Brazil, Cuba, Curacao and Guatemala; at the University of Newcastle and the University of Reading in England; at Trinity College in Dublin; at The Sorbonne in Paris; in Germany Malta, the Netherlands and Prague; at Aberdeen University in Scotland; at the University of Seville and Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

New College encourages study beyond the classroom and campus, whenever such study can contribute to a student's educational goals at a challenging level. Up to three of the seven, semester-long academic contracts required for graduation can be carried out off campus.

The student and the individual's faculty sponsor decide what activities best fulfill individual goals. In developing options, they use the Campus Career Center, which has an extensive library of study abroad and international internship guides, directories, program announcements, and "how to" materials. Independent study away from campus is also possible, and off-campus study can be done domestically as well as internationally.
